Xero Fasciculata Air Plant
Add a bold, sculptural accent to your plant collection with the Xero Fasciculata Air Plant, a striking hybrid that combines characteristics of Tillandsia xerographica and Tillandsia fasciculata. This unique air plant features an impressive rosette of curling, silvery-green leaves that give it the dramatic appearance of a miniature tropical sculpture.
Like other air plants, Xero Fasciculata does not require soil and can be displayed in a variety of creative ways. Its naturally architectural shape makes it an excellent choice for shelves, desks, decorative bowls, driftwood, wall displays, and open air plant holders.
The combination of the broad, curling foliage associated with xerographica and the upright, substantial growth characteristics of fasciculata makes this hybrid an especially attractive choice for collectors looking for something different from a typical air plant.

Light Requirements
Xero Fasciculata prefers bright, filtered or indirect light. A bright room near an east-, west-, or bright south-facing window can work well, provided the plant is protected from intense direct afternoon sunlight.
Good light helps maintain compact growth and encourages healthy foliage.
Watering
Water your Xero Fasciculata approximately once a week, adjusting based on your home's temperature, humidity, and airflow.
Thoroughly rinse or soak the plant for about 20–30 minutes, then gently shake off excess water. Place it somewhere with good air circulation and allow it to dry completely before returning it to its display.
Because this hybrid has a substantial rosette, avoid allowing water to remain trapped in the center of the plant for extended periods. Proper drying between waterings is important for preventing rot.
During particularly hot or dry conditions, it may require additional watering.
Air Circulation
Good airflow is essential. After watering, make sure the plant has plenty of ventilation so moisture can evaporate from the leaves and base.
Avoid keeping Xero Fasciculata in a permanently enclosed container or in an area with stagnant air.
Temperature & Humidity
Xero Fasciculata enjoys warm, humid conditions and generally adapts well to normal indoor temperatures.
Keep it away from freezing temperatures, cold drafts, and prolonged exposure to temperatures below approximately 45°F.
Moderate humidity is beneficial, but humidity should always be balanced with good airflow.
Fertilizing
Fertilizing is optional but can encourage healthy growth and flowering. Use a diluted fertilizer specifically formulated for air plants or bromeliads approximately once a month during active growth.
Avoid over-fertilizing, as concentrated fertilizer can damage the plant.
Display Ideas
Because Xero Fasciculata does not need soil, it can be displayed in many creative ways:
- Decorative air plant holders
- Driftwood or cork
- Open ceramic pots
- Decorative bowls
- Shelves and tabletops
- Hanging displays
- Rock or stone arrangements
- Open glass containers
Always choose a display that allows the plant to receive adequate light and airflow.
Flowering & Pups
With maturity and proper care, Xero Fasciculata may produce a dramatic flower spike. After flowering, the plant can produce new offsets, commonly called pups, around its base.
Pups can be left attached to form a larger cluster or separated once they have reached a suitable size.
Important Care Tip
Xero Fasciculata should never be planted in regular potting soil. Like other epiphytic air plants, it absorbs moisture and nutrients primarily through its foliage and is designed to live without soil.
After every watering, allow the plant to dry thoroughly before placing it back into its display.
