☀️ Light Requirements
Philodendron Choco Empress grows best in bright, indirect light. Plenty of filtered light will encourage healthy growth and help the plant produce larger, attractive foliage.
Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Lower light conditions may be tolerated, but growth can become slower and leaves may remain smaller.
💧 Watering
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering. When watering, thoroughly soak the soil until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot.
Avoid allowing the plant to sit in standing water or keeping the soil constantly saturated. Watering frequency will depend on light, temperature, humidity, and the size and type of container.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Keep your Philodendron Choco Empress in a warm environment between 65–85°F. Protect it from cold drafts, air-conditioning vents, and temperatures below 55°F.
Moderate to high humidity is beneficial and can encourage healthier leaves and new growth. A humidifier can be helpful in especially dry indoor environments.
🌱 Soil & Fertilizer
Use a chunky, well-draining, moisture-retentive aroid mix. A combination of quality potting soil or coco coir, orchid bark, and perlite or pumice provides excellent drainage while allowing the roots access to air.
Feed with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer approximately once a month during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter when growth naturally slows.
✂️ Grooming & Growth
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves with clean scissors as needed. Wipe larger leaves occasionally with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and help maintain their beautiful appearance.
As the plant matures, provide adequate space for its larger foliage. Rotate the pot periodically to encourage balanced growth.
📦 Shipping & Plant Appearance
Plants are living products, so size, leaf count, coloration, and growth habit will vary. New leaves may display different shades of chocolate, bronze, burgundy, or green depending on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.
Some temporary leaf curling, drooping, or minor cosmetic damage may occur during shipping. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new environment before making major changes to its care routine.
⚠️ Pet Safety
Philodendrons are toxic if ingested. Keep your Choco Empress away from pets and children who may chew or consume the leaves or stems.
