Philodendron Brasil Care Instructions
Light:
Provide bright, indirect light for the best growth and strongest variegation. Philodendron Brasil can tolerate lower light conditions, but the colorful variegation may become less pronounced. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water:
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot. Avoid allowing the plant to sit in standing water, as consistently soggy soil can lead to root problems.
Humidity:
Philodendron Brasil enjoys moderate to higher humidity but adapts well to average household conditions. Additional humidity may encourage lush, healthy growth.
Temperature:
Keep in a warm environment between approximately 65–85°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix. A mixture designed for houseplants or a chunky aroid mix containing materials such as perlite and orchid bark works well.
Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer approximately once a month during spring and summer. Reduce fertilizing during the fall and winter when growth naturally slows.
Pruning & Growth:
Trim vines as needed to maintain your desired shape and encourage a fuller, bushier appearance. Philodendron Brasil can also be trained to climb a moss pole or trellis for larger foliage and vertical growth.
Important Care Tip
For the healthiest and most colorful Philodendron Brasil, provide bright, indirect light and avoid overwatering. Allowing the soil to partially dry between waterings and using a well-draining pot will help keep the roots healthy and your plant thriving.
