Tillandsia Bulbosa ‘Guatemala’ Care Instructions
Light:
Provide bright, filtered or indirect light. Tillandsia bulbosa can tolerate some gentle morning sunlight but should be protected from intense, direct afternoon sun, which can cause leaf scorching and dehydration.
Water:
Thoroughly rinse or soak the plant in room-temperature water for approximately 20–30 minutes, then gently shake off excess water. Allow the plant to dry completely in an area with excellent air circulation before returning it to its display.
Because of its bulbous base, take extra care not to allow water to remain trapped inside the plant. Watering frequency will depend on temperature, humidity, and airflow.
Humidity:
Tillandsia bulbosa enjoys moderate to higher humidity but requires good ventilation. In dry indoor environments, it may appreciate more frequent watering.
Air Circulation:
Good airflow is especially important for this variety. After watering, position the plant where air can move freely around it and allow it to dry completely.
Temperature:
Keep your Tillandsia bulbosa ‘Guatemala’ between approximately 50–90°F. Protect it from freezing temperatures and prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
Fertilizer:
For best growth, feed approximately once a month during the growing season with a fertilizer specifically formulated for air plants or bromeliads. Dilute according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Important Care Tip
Allow Tillandsia bulbosa to dry completely after watering. Because of its bulbous shape and tightly curled foliage, trapped moisture can increase the risk of rot. Water thoroughly, shake out excess water, and provide plenty of airflow while the plant dries.
